Drinking water when you're dehydrated is slow. This isn't.
Your stomach decides how fast water gets into your blood, and when you're already behind it's slow. If you're nauseous, it doesn't get in at all. A liter through an IV skips the line: it's in your blood as it runs, and most people feel their head clear before the bag is empty.
The other problem with water is that sweat isn't water. It's salty. Drinking plain water puts the fluid back and not the sodium, potassium and calcium you lost, which is why you can drink all afternoon and still feel off. Our base fluid carries all of them.
most lounges run saline because it's cheaper. every drip we make starts on 1,000 mL of lactated ringers.

Questions about IV hydration.
What is IV hydration?
A liter of fluids put directly into your blood through a small IV, instead of drinking and waiting on your stomach. Ours is lactated ringers, the balanced fluid hospitals use, which carries sodium, potassium, calcium and chloride in close to the mix your blood already has. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes and most people feel the difference before they leave the chair.
How much does IV hydration cost in Birmingham?
The Electrolyte Drip, a liter of fluids on its own, is $95 (a 500 mL mini is $55). Max Hydration adds magnesium and zinc for $159. After Party adds nausea and headache support for the morning after, $169. Members save 25 percent. Every price and every dose is on the page.
Which hydration drip should I get?
If you're thirsty and run down and nothing else is wrong, the Electrolyte Drip. If you're dried out from heat, a hard workout, travel or being sick, Max Hydration. If last night is the reason, After Party. If a game or race is coming, Athlete Recovery. Not sure? Tell the nurse how you feel and she'll point you to the right one.
Why not just drink more water?
You should. But when you're already dehydrated your stomach limits how fast water gets in, and if you're nauseous it doesn't stay down at all. A liter in the vein skips both problems and goes in balanced with the electrolytes you sweat out, which water alone doesn't replace.
Can I walk in for IV hydration?
Yes, once you've been in before. New clients start with a free 10 minute intro so a nurse can review your health history. It stays on file for three years, and after that you can walk in any time we're open.
Can I get IV hydration at home?
Yes. Our mobile concierge brings the same drips to your home, office or hotel anywhere in the Birmingham area for a $50 travel fee.
What is in the bag?
Every hydration drip starts with 1,000 mL of lactated ringers. Max Hydration adds magnesium sulfate 500 mg and zinc chloride 3 mg. After Party adds Zofran 4 mg, Toradol 30 mg and B1 thiamine 200 mg. Nothing hidden, no proprietary blends, and the full list is on each drip's page.
