A first visit begins with a free 10 minute intro so a nurse can go over your health history. From there you choose a drip and relax in a lounge chair while it runs, usually 30 to 45 minutes. After the intro, you can walk in during open hours for the next three years.
If IV therapy is new to you, the unknowns are usually what keep you from booking. Here is exactly what a first visit looks like at Drip 280, our Birmingham lounge on Valleydale Road, from the front door to heading back out.
A first visit, in order.
- 01Your free intro
Before your first drip, a nurse spends about 10 minutes on your health history, current medications, and what you're hoping to feel. It is a conversation, not a pitch, and it covers you for three years.
- 02Choose a drip
Arrive with a drip in mind, or describe how you feel and let the nurse help. Our full drip menu shows every ingredient and dose for every drip, so nothing in the bag is a mystery.
- 03Getting the IV started
Once you're settled in a lounge chair, the nurse places a small IV in your forearm or the back of your hand. The stick lasts a second, and the line is easy to forget once it's in.
- 04Relax while it runs
A typical drip takes 30 to 45 minutes. NAD+ and high dose vitamin C take longer, and you'll know that before you start. Bring work, a book, or nothing at all.
- 05Add-ins and boosters
Add-ins are mixed right into your bag. Boosters are quick injections given during the same visit, done in about five minutes.
- 06Head out
Your nurse removes the line and bandages the spot. Most people drive themselves home. If you add a Benadryl booster, plan on a driver.
Read the bag before you book.
Every drip we offer comes with a full ingredient list and every dose, like a nutrition label. Here is the label for our Myers' Plus drip, a longtime favorite.
Pregnant, on medication, or just cautious? Take this list to your own doctor first. Either of you can ask our nurse or doctor anything, any time.
Quick answers.
Does it hurt? Most people compare it to a blood draw: a quick pinch, then nothing.
Can I come with a friend? Yes. Side by side chairs are common.
Can a nurse come to me? Yes. Our mobile nurses travel to homes, offices and hotels anywhere in the Birmingham area for a $50 travel fee.
Book it online, and after that you can walk in at Drip 280 any time we're open.
